Renovation of the breakwater at Haifa Seaport

Summary

The original British breakwater at Haifa Seaport was built in the early 1930s. Although the marine structure has held up impressively, it has become necessary to renovate and restore it. The project included approximately 1,200 meters of the British breakwater, and approximately 600 meters of the Carmel Port breakwater, which was built in the 1980s.

For the construction permit phase, AdaMa prepared an environmental appendix that presents the planning of the works to restore and strengthen the historic British breakwater and the measures to reduce environmental impacts at sea and on land during the works.

As part of our work, solutions were proposed for recycling materials, reducing noise, dust and marine pollution, and procedures were established for environmental management and supervision.

The project incorporates elements to encourage biodiversity – Coastalock Ponds – and will preserve the historic British observation towers.

This environmental document was submitted to the National Licensing Authority with additional application documents for the construction permit phase.
